Was fun to make drawings about dinosaurs & lizards & space -all subjects I’ve never covered in my usual assignments. Mainly though, it felt great to give young creatives a sense of validation. I grew up in an educational environment where art wasn’t valued (or funded) & as a result I had terrible grades & was often told by adults that I’d amount to nothing. It wasn’t until I went to art school that I found an environment that I excelled in & I have a huge chip on my shoulder over that. So I gravitate towards opportunities to encourage others early on that creative pursuits are valid & have very real value in this world that is more than monetary.
